Example Sentence: 공항으로 가는 버스 맞아요? (Gonghangeuro ganeun beoseu majayo?) – Is this the right bus for the airport?
The first Korean airport vocabulary that we will learn is, of course, the airport 공항 (Gonghang). When we talk about airport, the gateway to South Korea is the Incheon International Aiport (인천국제공항 | incheongukjegonghang). Other airports in South Korea include Gimpo International Airport, Gimhae International Airport, and Jeju International Airport.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Incheon International Aiport is very strict. Arrivals from countries with high risk are subject to verification of negative test results. But before the pandemic, the daily average of people who use Incheon International Airport is at 203,528.
Although tourism is one of the biggest contributors to their economy, the Korean Government doesn’t want to compromise the health of the locals. So, if you are planning to go there, expect a strict implementation of health protocols when you arrive at the airport.
English Translation: airplane/ plane
Example Sentence: 비행기는 열시에 공항에 착륙할 것입니다. (Bihaenggineun yeolsie gonghange changnyukhal geosimnida. ) – The plane will land at the airport at ten o’clock.
The airplane (비행기 | Bihaenggi) is one of the biggest factors to enjoy your travel experience. Everyone wants a safe, clean, and convenient plane ride. In Korea, they have Korean Air which is the largest airline and flag carrier of South Korea. Korean Air offers a safe and convenient travel experience. Here are a few cabin tips to remember:
- The in-flight temperature is 23–25°C so, the recommended clothes to wear are long-sleeved tops and pants. For girls, you can also wear skirts made of thin fabric.
- Due to the low humidity inside the aircraft, it is advised to keep yourself hydrated. If you are wearing contact lenses, use your glasses in the meantime to prevent dryness and inflammation. If you’re into skincare, it is advisable to use moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized.
- The in-flight atmospheric pressure is kept constant between 5,000 and 8,000 feet (1,524 and 2,438 meters). If you feel discomfort, try to yawn, gently blow your nose, or drink water. If you’re with a child, it may help if you give them food or a bottle of milk.
- Because of the continuous innovations and improvements, Korean Air’s panels and seats have reduced noise. You can also ask for earphones if you want to.
- Korean Air cannot fully ensure that the flight is allergy-free for passengers with allergies because of the passengers’ hand-carry items. So it’s better to check in with your doctor before you take a flight and bring allergy medicine in case of emergency.
