Meaning Of Urdu Conjunctions
Before examining the four different Urdu conjunctions, let’s first discuss what conjunction means in Urdu language. “A conjunction is a term that joins sentences together. It can join together words, sentences, or even clauses.”
For example, Fatima and Bushra are friends.
In this sentence, Fatima and Bushra are two separate words, but the word “and” joins them.
فاطمہ اور بشریٔ دوست ہیں۔ (Fatima aur Bushra dost hain)
And in Urdu, “اور” (aur) is joining the two words.
Types Of Urdu Conjunctions

Subordinate Conjunctions
A conjunction that joins a sentence with another sentence that is the original and the whole meaning of the first depends on it, such as:
- She can’t pay bills because she is financially weak.
- مالی طور پر کمزور ہونے کی وجہ سے وہ بل ادا نہیں کر سکتی۔ (maali taur par kamzor hone ki wajah se wo bill adaa nahi kar sakti)
“Because” is a Subordinating Conjunction in this sentence because she can’t pay bills and does not understand the whole meaning of why she can’t pay bills. It is connected with the following sentence because she is financially weak. So she can’t pay bills.
Following are the example sentences;
