Political Map Of Thailand

Thailand is located in the center of Southeast Asia, along the Gulf of Thailand. The country shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. The capital and largest city of Thailand is Bangkok. Other major cities in Thailand include Samut Prakan, Mueang Nonthaburi, Chiang Mai, and Udon Thani.

Thailand consists of two geographic regions, the northern region, and the smaller southern region. The smaller region is considered the peninsular of Thailand and stretches from the southwestern corner of the country to the eastern edge of the Malay Peninsula.

Physical Map Of Thailand

The most outstanding parts of Thailand are the plains in central Thailand, such as the Khorat Plateau and the mountains that surround it. Also, The Dawna Range and Thai Highlands lie along the northwest side of the country. Another major range of mountains, The Phetchabun Mountains, runs through the north-south direction of the central region.

But, the highest peak belongs to Doi Inthanon with 2,565 m (8,415 ft). This stands on the northwest side of the Shan Hills.

Thailand has two important river systems, the Chao Phraya and the Mekong. These rivers are important water sources since growing rice is a common occupation among those in rural areas. The downside is that floods can be unpredictable, both in terms of quantity and frequency.

Currently, there are 76 provinces in Thailand. But, don’t forget about the specially governed district of Bangkok. Other than that, each province is run by a governor who is elected by the people living in that province.
