The Basic Theme Of Houses In Armenia

- Rural traditional houses
- Town residential buildings
- Palatial houses
Mostly the houses seem to have a look of ancient traditions. Their architectural works have a historical connection with their early beliefs. With all those now out of the way, let’s discuss all the house’s essential elements in Armenian culture.
Structure Of Houses In Armenia

A souse is one of the basic needs of a human being for living. It is the only place to go while one seeks refuge from the dangers outside. Before building a house, you have to consider many things. It is essential to make the foundation and structure according to the environment of that place.
Every country or place has its housing structure according to its location. Keeping in view the standard design and calibration of that specific area will lead you to a more robust and safer living.
So are you thinking about building a house in Armenia according to your desires? You may have to make a house in Armenia for business or a job, visit there often or live there for study purposes.
For all these plans, you will need to know about the Armenia housing scheme, and we will guide you about all such lodging projects in this article.
Primary Understructure
The basic foundation of the house is led by using basalt material- a fine-grained igneous rock and mud brick for making stone assembly. Armenian buildings or homes tend to be low-lying with thickly designed walls because of their religious customs and for the sake of earthquake protection.
As Armenia is mainly covered with stone mountains, most of their construction matter is also supposed to be strong, and still, there are many stone-made dwellings in Armenia. The stonework gives a charming view of every city.
Walls – Պատեր (Pater)
Almost all the walls of houses are constructed in a very thick manner of nearly four meters and made of pure basalt material- for a more substantial base. These massive walls lead to a better and safer house structure. The walls are kept at average heights to prevent fillings from earthquakes and windstorms. There is also a system of insolation in almost all houses for better livelihood.
Roof – Տանիք (Tanik)
Armenians have a variety of designs on their thick roofs. Primarily they are designed with stones and wood pallets in them. The roofs are further jeweled with chandeliers in luxurious or expensive houses. Roofs and ceilings are designed with double coatings in many standard homes or buildings to provide better quality and efficient living. While on the other hand, many rural houses also have plain roofs.
Rooms – Սենյակ (Seminyak)
The word սենյակ – (Seminyak) is used for a room in Armenian (Eastern dialect). Armenia is mainly well known for its blend designing of oldfangled touch with today’s new fashion trend.
They have a unique standard for each room with a modern and classical touch. Even the hotel room is beautifully decorated with dowdy Armenian traditional looks and popular style these days and is an excellent example of fashion sense.
The rooms are ample in royal areas or cities, while rural areas have gentle alcoves or cells. Perfect for playing calm Armenian music while relaxing. Some rooms have maple wood floorings that give an aesthetic view, and further details include bed, traditional sofas, and more extreme room decors. Walls are ornamented with beautiful royal frames, pictures, and other spangles, which give the emotional vibes of Armenians with their tradition. They have some traditional decorations with specific Armenian alphabets, letters, and symbols.
Living And Dining Rooms – Բնակելի և ճաշասենյակներ (Bnakeli yev chashasenyakner)
Living rooms and dining rooms are significant elements in an Armenian house. Most joint family members get together daily as a part of their rituals and tradition. Most houses’ living rooms are decorated beautifully with certain Armenian cloths like hand-woven carpets and show pieces. They have glamorous stone roofs and ceilings.
The dining room has a complete look with a dining table, chairs, and other decorations.
They seem to be incomplete without windows. Beautiful windows are decorated with stones and plants in every house in Armenia.
They are made of bricks and glass, usually giving a traditional look.
Kitchen – խոհանոց (Khohanots)
A house is incomplete without a kitchen. The word խոհանոց (khohanots) is used for kitchen in the Armenian language.
Armenian people are obsessed with their kitchen due to their vast food culture. They love to furnish their kitchens very well. Their kitchen walls are made of stone marbles with Grecian designs over them.
They have specific stands for putting utensils into them. They have some specific traditional knives for their cultural food, which is appropriately arranged.
Garden And Lawns – Այգի Եվ Այգիներ (Aygi Yev Ayginer)
In most cities and rural areas, gardens and extensive green lawns are formed around the house. Animals are kept on lawns in rural places and are provided with large spaces, and cities have royal gardens with ethereal decorations.
