Weather In Albanian: Learn 20+ Useful Words

Weather In Albanian

Geographically speaking, Albania is a beautiful country blessed as it shares its borders with two seas and a mountainous range. The weather in Albanian lowland areas (near sea coasts) and highlands (areas towards the hills) see drastic fluctuations throughout the year, making it a unique place to visit. In fact, the changes can happen at any time-from warm to reasonably cool, from sunny to cloudy (partly primarily cloudy), and from dry to humid! Continental And Mediterranean Topography

The continental climate is mainly observed in the north, while the Mediterranean climate is based on the climate data in the south and southwest. The regions in the south, i.e., near the mediterranean sea, observe hot, dry summers and cold winters. So it can be said that lowlands have warm summers and cool winters.

On the other hand, the highlands of Albania are located in the north. Here, the sun shines in summer, while in winter, you may have sunny days, cloudy weather, and continuous rainfall.

Weather In Different Seasons In Albania

A very sheer contrast exists between the northern and southern halves of Albania. Four main seasons exist there, i.e., spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Spring Season

Spring runs between mid of February and April, and these two months take you from a relatively cool breeze to reasonably warm weather. Mid of March 14 is celebrated as “The Day of Summer” as it marks when people say goodbye to the winter and get ready to welcome summer.

Summer Season

The summer season lasts from mid-April to October, and it is usually dry and warm, and July is the hottest month. Precipitation is not mostly characteristic of Albanian summer, so these days could be exhausting. In some areas, droughts and rainy days can shift in days. You might be drenched in sweat for three days and get soaked with precipitation for the next three days.

Autumn Season

The Autumn season is the shortest as it starts in October and lasts for a month. Mediterranean winds release moisture (depending upon the wind speed as to how far from the coastline it precipitates), and there is mostly rain in autumn. Still, the temperatures remain moderate almost throughout Albania at 18 degrees Centigrade.

The temperature suddenly shifts towards the second half of November, so I suggest not choosing November to go to the beach as the sea temperature is low.

Winter Season

Winter expands from just about three and a half months and lasts between November and mid of February. Precipitation is a general characteristic of Albanian winter, and precipitation increases in January when the temperature is supposed to be the lowest and, thus, the coldest.

As soon as you enter the month of February, precipitation stops, and the weather starts getting dry. The southern part’s temperature is not lower than 5 degrees Centigrade. It snows in the northern regions, so if you want to enjoy Christmas with a snowman, visit the Albanian highlands in the late half of December.

Precipitation And Rainfall

Albania is not deprived of the rainy season, so if you are a downpour lover, visit during the rainfall season. Like all the Northern hilly areas where it may exceed 2000mm, Southern parts get about 1000mm of rain annually. Precipitation is the highest during humid weather, i.e., in autumn and winter on coasts and highlands. In addition, the highlands show an influx of rain and storm right between the dry summer days.

Best Time For A Tour

Albania is a sight that encompasses all the climatic blessings that nature offers in a single territory, so you would want to visit and enjoy it. Those who wish to see the historical sights and plan to go there for sightseeing should prepare from April to November. If you are a coast lover and want to spend your days on the beach, the months from May to September and especially July and August hold a lot for you.

Must-Haves For A Vacation In Albania

In coastline areas, you need light clothes like sweatshirts, i.e., for summer, and heavy coats for winter. If you want to go to the northern side, you prefer light clothes in winter, and a jacket is needed even in summer.
