Health Care In Malaysia

health care in Malaysia

Malaysia has an excellent health care system. The Ministry of Health is in charge of health care in Malaysia. The health care system in Malaysia is efficient and widespread, consisting of both a government-based universal healthcare system and a coexisting private system. Despite a free universal healthcare system, specialists require queuing and there are long waiting lists. Therefore, private health care provides specialist services that complement universal health care. Medical expenses are typically covered by health plans in Malaysia.

Additionally, a universal healthcare system is in place. There are both public and private healthcare systems. Public healthcare is rather basic, especially in rural areas. Because of the increasing and aging population, the government wishes to improve in many areas, including rehabilitating existing hospitals, constructing and equipping new hospitals, increasing the number of polyclinics, and improving training and expanding telehealth.

Common Causes Of Health Problems In Malaysia

Malaysia, as a nation and a state, is not immune to a range of health issues ranging from common conditions to rare and serious ones. Many of these health issues can be traced back to various social and environmental factors, such as work stress, being sedentary, and unhealthy eating habits.

Major Health Problems In Malaysia

1. Coronary Heart Disease

The World Health Organization reports that coronary heart disease is Malaysia's leading killer. About 23 percent of all Malaysian deaths are caused by coronary heart diseases. This includes heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems, and more people have succumbed to this fatality ever since.

2. Stroke

Stroke is the second leading cause of death in Malaysia, which results from the loss of blood to the brain. It continues to be one of the biggest worries because most victims aren't aware when they're at risk, which is why it is often called the silent killer.

3. Influenza & Pneumonia

Influenza and pneumonia take third place in the top 10 list of the most dangerous diseases in Malaysia. What's interesting is that the locals simply brush this one off as the simple flu. However, it is the third highest cause of death in Malaysia.

4. Lung Diseases

For the locals, this is one of the most fatal health problems. One of the reasons behind this is that they are often exposed to many different types of flu viruses in typical tropical weather.

6. Lung Cancer

Lung cancer was the sixth leading cause of death in Malaysia. This one is commonly related to lifestyle habits, such as smoking and inhaling dangerous gases like carbon monoxide too often. As a result, it is very prevalent among people in urban areas, as well as those who are employed in high industrial areas, such as factories and manufacturing plants.

7. Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes is more commonly known as ''kencing manis''. One of the reasons is that the locals love sweets and are consuming too much sugar. Even with the increase in sugar prices in Malaysia, the preparation of food using this ingredient has not diminished significantly.

8. Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is just one of many types of cancer that kill Malaysians each year. In recent years, this is one disease that has become more prevalent among women than ever before.
