How To Say I Love You In Turkish?
There are many ways to express your feelings to someone. You can express them through words, gestures, and even a glance. Of course, the most direct way is to utter some powerful words, such as ”I love you.”
Before you open your heart to someone, think about how deep your love is and whether they are ready to own that kind of love. Because, as you know, there are different levels of love, and you don’t want to sound creepy by saying ”sana aşık oldum” to someone that you barely know!
- Hoşlanmak – To have a crush on someone. It’s that feeling when you admire someone a lot. You find someone very pretty and attractive but can’t tell if it’s love or not since you don’t really know them yet.
- Sevmek – To like someone. It is the most commonly used Turkish word for love. Sevmek is a stronger feeling than hoşlanmak. It is the verb used in ”seni seviyorum” which means I love you in Turkish. - Aşık olmak – To love someone. It is the highest level of love in the Turkish language. Aşık olmak expresses a passionate love combined with lust. It means that you love every part of someone and you’re bonded with them.
1. Senden çok hoşlanıyorum (I have a crush on you)
This phrase is usually used by young people around high school age. It evokes a sweet and innocent kind of love. Like it’s nothing serious, but you just feel nice things about a person and find them attractive (çekici).
2. Seni seviyorum (I love you)
Seni seviyorum is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says asks how to say I love you in Turkish. It can be used for both romantic (romantik) and unromantic relationships. So you can say this phrase to your friends and family as well.
3. Seni çok seviyorum (I love you so/very much)
It is the same usage as the previous one. But the only difference is that this phrase expresses more amount of love since it includes the word çok (very, much). ”Çok” is the Turkish word used to express muchness and plurality.
4. Sana aşık oldum (I fell in love with you)
You can use this phrase once you realize that you’ve actually fallen in love with someone in a romantic way. If you’ve known them for a long time and you are sure that they share your feelings. Just go for it! It is the best phrase to declare your love in Turkish!
5. Sensiz yaşayamam (I can’t live without you)
This is a very romantic and passionate (tutkulu) way to express your love for someone. They will absolutely understand how deep your love is when they hear you say it. You can say it to your partner whom you have already been dating.
6. Seni sonsuza kadar seveceğim (I’ll love you forever)
This is a romantic Turkish phrase that you can say to your lover. So that they will know you really mean it when you say that you love them, and they can count on your loyalty (sadakat).
7. Birbirmiz için yaratılmışız (We’re meant to be together)
This is the phrase that gets me every time. Honestly, I don’t know any Turkish girl that won’t fall for that. Because the meaning behind it tells that God created you for each other before you were even sent to the earth. It deeply touches your heart.
8. Kaderimde sen varsın (You are in my fate)
Similar to the previous one, this phrase has a little religious vibe. It means that your fates were written together by God and that’s why you two had to meet and fall in love with each other.
9. Ya benimsin ya kara toprağın (If I can’t have you, no one can)
This is a very strong phrase therefore, you should be careful with your tone of voice and wording when you say it. Maybe you can say it in a waggish way so that it won’t cause any misunderstanding.
