1. សូមអបអរសាទរ (Soum Ab Orsatou)

English Translation: Congratulations

The first word we learn when you want to say Congratulations in Khmer is សូមអបអរសាទរ (Saum Abaarsator). This is the most common way to congratulate someone in the Cambodian language that you’ll often hear from the locals. This can be used in almost every situation like passing an exam, getting promoted, being married or engaged, winning awards, and more.

3. ធ្វើ​បាន​ល្អ (Thveu​ Ban​ L’or)

English Translation: Good job!

The expression “Good job!” ធ្វើ​បាន​ល្អ (Thveu​ Ban​ L’or) is also one of the most common ways to say Congratulations in Khmer. This is praise you give to someone who did a great job on a task or job. As kids, we often see it in our papers when we got high scores in tests or activities. We can also hear this being said by our parents when we successfully did a task.

4. ប្រសើរណាស់ (Prasaeu Nas)

English Translation: Well done!

They said that the reward for a job well done is the opportunity to do more. When we say, “Well done!” ប្រសើរណាស់ (Prasaeu Nas) to people who did a great job, it will inspire and motivate them to do more. They will find a reason to continue what they are doing because their efforts are being recognized.

5. អ្នកធ្វើបានហើយ! (Neak Thveu Ban Haeuy!)

English Translation: You did it!

Complimenting is another way of congratulating someone. When you say, “You did it.” អ្នកបានហើយ! (Neak Thveu Ban Haeuy!), you are actually congratulating someone’s success in doing something. There are different situations where you can use it, and I think the most popular situations were when you passed a test-winning competition.

6. សូមជូនពរ​ឱ្យសំណាងល្អគ្រប់កិច្ចការ (Soum Chun Po Aoy Samnang L’or Krob Kechka)

English Translation: Wish you all the best / Best wishes

Another way to say Congratulations in Khmer is សូមជូនពរ​ឱ្យសំណាងល្អគ្រប់កិច្ចការ (Soum Chun Po Aoy Samnang L’or Krob Kechka). You’ll mostly hear this during weddings, engagements, and other important milestones in life. You can also use this while saying cheers during the celebration.

7. សូមបន្តធ្វើឱ្យបានល្អបែបនេះ (Soum Bantor Thveu Aoy Ban L’or Baeb Nis)

English Translation: Keep up the good work

Have you tried being told, “Keep up the good work”? សូមបន្តធ្វើឱ្យបានល្អបែបនេះ (Soum Bantor Thveu Aoy Ban L’or Baeb Nis) it really feels amazing, right? It makes you feel that your hard work is being recognized. For some, this may be a small and simple thing, but for some people, being told this simple expression means that somebody saw the fruits of your labor. Giving all of your heart to a task is what passionate people do, and it wouldn’t hurt to praise these kinds of people even just through a simple “រក្សា​ការ​ងារ​ល្អ (Roksaa​ Kar​ Ngear​ l).”

8. ធ្វើអ៊ីចឹងបានត្រូវ (Thveu Ichoeng Ban Trouv)
